Before we discuss the specific focus of this project, it is important to come up with explicit definitions. While there are some generally agreed-upon conventions of referring to certain parts of these Dark and Deep Webs, definitions are often used interchangeably depending on the source. These various definitions invariably cause confusion and thus we must solidify our definitions.
In concretely defining these terms, I have chosen the most widely used definition of the word. For instance, I have seen Deep Web referred to as both inaccessible databases as well as the collection of sites considered not part of the Surface Web. Cross-referencing sources, I have decided to use Deep Web to refer solely to these inaccessible databases. The reasoning behind how each word is defined will be explained on each definition page.
